SCETV to livestream South Carolina Supreme Court oral arguments in The State v. Richard Alexander Murdaugh

South Carolina ETV and Public Radio (SCETV) will livestream oral arguments before the Supreme Court of South Carolina in The State v. Richard Alexander Murdaugh on Feb. 11 beginning at 9:30 a.m. The proceedings will take place at the South Carolina Supreme Court and will be open to the public.

The livestream will be available on the SCETV website as well as on the SCETV Facebook page and YouTube channel, providing viewers across the state with access to the court’s proceedings.

In partnership with the South Carolina Supreme Court, SCETV will provide the sole livestream of oral arguments in The State v. Richard Alexander Murdaugh, with live viewing available on SCETV platforms statewide. To support comprehensive media coverage, SCETV is coordinating with media outlets across the state to expand public access to the proceedings.

Seating inside the courtroom will be available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 8:30 a.m. Reserved seating will not be offered. Laptops and tablets are permitted in the courtroom, provided they are silenced. Cell phones are allowed but must be powered off. No cameras or video cameras are permitted inside the courtroom, except those operated by SCETV.

As South Carolina’s trusted source for public affairs programming and government transparency, SCETV remains committed to keeping citizens informed by providing access to important news and information. In collaboration with the South Carolina Legislative Services Agency, SCETV livestreams daily legislative activity from the House and Senate chambers, four Senate committee rooms and 15 House committee rooms. Beyond legislative proceedings, SCETV livestreams a range of public meetings, including the State Supreme Court, Court of Appeals and the Public Service Commission, reinforcing its commitment to providing open access to government activity across the state.

Along with livestreaming oral arguments in The State v. Richard Alexander Murdaugh, in partnership with the State Supreme Court, SCETV provides statewide livestream access to other proceedings. By livestreaming the court proceedings, SCETV continues its role in expanding public access to judicial proceedings and ensuring South Carolinians can observe the work of the state’s highest court, regardless of location.
