South Carolina ETV and Public Radio (SCETV) invites students to dream big, build boldly and explore the world of innovation during the upcoming summer SCETV STEAM Camp, being held June 15 – 18 at the SCETV studios in Columbia. The four-day immersive experience combines hands-on engineering, creative storytelling and real-world problem-solving in a collaborative learning environment.
The camp provides participants with opportunities to work alongside educators and industry professionals as they tackle real-world challenges through research-based and standards-aligned activities. Students will brainstorm ideas, design prototypes, test solutions and refine their work while documenting the creative process through video storytelling.
Throughout the camp, students will participate in team-based engineering challenges and interactive activities that encourage curiosity, collaboration and innovation. Each day begins with a quick creative challenge before students move into hands-on design and building sessions, prototype testing and video production activities that capture their progress and discoveries. Along the way, campers will build engineering projects, strengthen critical thinking and problem-solving skills, collaborate with peers to brainstorm and test ideas and create videos documenting their design process. Students will also have opportunities to meet engineers and learn about future career pathways in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) fields.
The camp continues SCETV’s commitment to providing educational experiences that connect classroom learning with real-world applications while encouraging creativity and exploration. The camp is open to students entering grades six through nine and costs $125 per student. Registration includes snacks, drinks and lunch each day.
