Whitfield and Lauren Bowens are Columbia, South Carolina natives who were raised in a music-rich household by their parents, Dr. Reverend Thurmond Bowens Jr. and Barbara Bowens, whose diverse musical influences shaped their sound and vocal abilities. Immersed in church and choir from a young age, both developed strong musical foundations, with Whitfield often leading songs and later launching a solo career under the name Murcier. After years of producing music independently, the siblings officially began creating together in 2017 and released their first song as Murcier in 2020. Inspired by their upbringing, Murcier creates soulful, cinematic music, with both contributing lyrically while Whitfield handles production, and their work is available on major streaming platforms.
