Jack Bass | A Literary Tour of South Carolina (2008) | ETV Classics
Martha Alewine takes us on a Literary Tour of South Carolina where we meet noted author Jack Bass. Produced in 2008 for Instructional Television for the South Carolina Department of Education, Professor Bass provides writing hints necessary to become a successful, readable author.
For thirteen years, Jack Bass worked as a newspaper reporter and was twice named South Carolina's Journalist of the Year. At the time of his passing, he was professor emeritus at the College of Charleston.
Professor Bass noted that what he cares about is that writing helps you to understand what really happened, how it happened; why it happened, and the impact after the happening. In his classes, one of the first things he urges is that students read The Elements of Style, whereupon he proceeds to give a master class in writing.
