South Carolina ETV and Public Radio to host live taping of "South Carolina Lede" podcast with House Speaker Murrell Smith

South Carolina ETV and Public Radio (SCETV) will host a live taping of the South Carolina Lede podcast and This Week in South Carolina featuring Speaker of the South Carolina House of Representatives Murrell Smith. The event will take place at the SCETV studio in Columbia on Jan. 8, from 6-8 p.m. Speaker Smith will join host Gavin Jackson and Statehouse reporter Maayan Schechter for a wide-ranging conversation previewing the 2026 legislative session and the key discussions, debates and policies poised to shape South Carolina.

The South Carolina Lede is a podcast that explores the people, issues and policy decisions driving South Carolina’s political landscape. Listeners can hear in-depth interviews and analysis twice weekly. In addition to hosting the podcast, Jackson serves as a SCETV news and political reporter and anchors This Week in South Carolina, a weekly public affairs program featuring conversations with the state’s leaders, policymakers and journalists. This Week in South Carolina airs Fridays at 7:30 p.m. on ETV.

Speaker Murrell Smith has represented South Carolina’s 67th House District since 2001 and has served as Speaker of the House since 2022. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law and a co-founding member of Smith Robinson Law Firm.

This event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Early registration is encouraged.
