South Carolina ETV and Public Radio (SCETV) is proud to strengthen its commitment to local journalism, expanding community-focused reporting and deepening audience engagement in 2026. Through new voices, an emphasis on local coverage and additional ways for audiences to stay informed, SCETV continues to deliver trusted, impactful and locally relevant content to the people of the Palmetto State.
Beginning Dec. 29, Kristina Thacker will serve as the interim local host of Morning Edition on SC Public Radio. Thacker, a familiar voice to listeners, will continue providing South Carolina news, weather and stories from communities across the state on weekday mornings from 6-9 a.m. The transition follows the departure of SCETV journalist Thelisha Eaddy in Dec. 2025. Eaddy joined the network in 2015, covering the long-term recovery of the historic Columbia flood as well as many other significant stories during her time at the network. Thacker serving as interim local host of Morning Edition ensures continuity and consistency for listeners while maintaining the high standard of morning news service SC Public Radio’s audience expects.
Reagan Knight continues as the local afternoon host for All Things Considered, with in-depth reporting on state headlines, weather and community-driven stories. Through thoughtful reporting and local voices, All Things Considered remains a cornerstone of SC Public Radio’s commitment to local journalism.
Gavin Jackson, host of This Week in South Carolina and the South Carolina Lede podcast, and SCETV Reporter Maayan Schechter focus on covering stories from the State Legislative session and policy-related issues. During the South Carolina Legislative session, beginning on Jan. 13, their reporting also includes the State House Gavel, providing online coverage Tuesday through Friday. Together, Jackson and Schechter deliver timely, contextual reporting on legislative actions, debates and discussions, helping South Carolinians better understand how policy decisions may impact their daily lives.
As part of its expanding engagement strategy, SCETV will launch the News Brief email newsletter on Jan. 12 with top stories and news coverage shaping South Carolina. Those interested in subscribing to receive the News Brief can visit the SCETV website.
Through the Your Stories, Your SCETV news tour, the network continues to expand connections with local audiences. The tour helps cultivate community partnerships, leading to a better understanding of the stories that matter most to residents. At the first stop in Nov. 2025, held at Voorhees University in Denmark, stakeholders joined members of SCETV’s news team to discuss issues facing their community. Discussion during the event gave reporters the opportunity to learn about and share their stories while hearing about what issues are important to the local community. The news tour will have six stops in 2026.
Together, these initiatives reflect SCETV’s continued investment in local journalism, audience engagement and transparency, reinforcing its role as a trusted source of news and information for the entire state. For more information about SCETV’s news coverage, visit SCETV.org/news.
