SCETV to livestream annual Commanders Brief to the Governor on military concerns in South Carolina

South Carolina ETV and Public Radio (SCETV) will livestream the annual Commanders Brief to the Governor on Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to noon in Columbia. During the event, military commanders of South Carolina’s eight military installations and Fort Gordon, Georgia, will provide updates to Governor Henry McMaster and South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs (SCDVA) Secretary Todd B. McCaffrey.

The briefing will cover critical issues affecting military families and operations in South Carolina. Topics include housing challenges, access to quality childcare and education, traffic congestion near installations, energy resilience initiatives and concerns about the use of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) near military sites. Commanders will also highlight how the state can support mission readiness and quality of life for service members and their families, ensuring South Carolina remains an essential component of national defense.

Secretary McCaffrey will lead the discussion with the following military installation leaders:

  • Shaw Air Force Base – Colonel Hugh Walker, Deputy Commander
  • Fort Gordon, GA – Brigadier General Mark Miles, Deputy Commander
  • Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island – Brigadier General Ahmed Williamson, Commander
  • Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Beaufort – Colonel Trevor Felter, Commander
  • Beaufort Naval Hospital – Captain Tracy Isaac, Commander
  • Joint Base Charleston – Captain Reed Koepp, Deputy Commander
  • Coast Guard Sector Charleston – Captain Eric Jones, Base Commander
  • Fort Jackson – Major General Daryl Hood, Commander
  • South Carolina National Guard – Major General Rob Stilwell, Adjutant General

The Commanders Brief to the Governor will livestream on the SCETV website and the South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube pages.
