South Carolina ETV (SCETV) is proud to introduce Expedition VR, a new immersive virtual reality series that takes viewers on breathtaking journeys through the natural beauty, vibrant culture and rich history of South Carolina. Produced by SCETV’s Charles Dymock, the series has released eight unique modules across SCETV’s online platforms available now.

Expedition VR transports audiences to stunning locations across the state, offering 180-degree experiences designed for both casual viewers and virtual reality enthusiasts. The series expands SCETV’s digital storytelling by blending innovation with education and exploration.

The virtual reality format offers a rare opportunity to experience places that are often difficult to access, allowing viewers to experience the wonder of South Carolina from a first-person perspective. This immersive approach not only enriches the viewing experience, but also enhances educational value by placing audiences inside environments that deepen understanding of South Carolina’s natural, historical and cultural significance.

Expedition VR modules will be available to interact with on the SCETV Facebook page, YouTube channel, SCETV.org, KnowItAll.org and through the Meta Quest TV app. While the series is optimized for virtual reality headsets, all modules can also be enjoyed on a standard screen— no special equipment required.

Viewers can virtually explore scenic waterfalls in the Upstate, the South Carolina Aquarium in Charleston and Columbia’s Riverbanks Zoo & Garden. Additional modules explore the Old City Jail in Charleston, the South Carolina State Museum, and offer guided city tours through Columbia, Charleston and Greenville—highlighting the architecture, history and energy of each setting. As part of the Riverbanks Zoo & Garden module, viewers will get to meet Susan, the Giant Pacific Octopus, who was housed in the Darnall W. and Susan F. Boyd Aquarium & Reptile Conservation Center at the time of filming and passed away in 2025 after reaching the natural end of her life cycle.

Series producer Charles Dymock is an SCETV Emmy® award-winning Digital Multimedia Producer. Dymock is known for his work on the programs What's Wild, From the Sky and Our Town where he showcases the beauty of nature and other marvels of the Palmetto State.
