South Carolina ETV and Public Radio (SCETV) will host a virtual kickoff event for its new statewide initiative, “Your Stories, Your SCETV: Local News Outreach Tour and Listening Sessions,” on Oct. 2 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Streaming live on SCETV’s digital platforms, this one-hour session will introduce the public to the initiative’s mission of amplifying community voices, strengthening trust in local journalism and elevating youth perspectives across South Carolina.

The Oct. 2 virtual kickoff will feature remarks from SCETV leadership, the chance to hear directly from SCETV reporters, a youth storytelling spotlight and an opportunity to answer audience questions.

Following the virtual kickoff, the in-person tour will bring SCETV’s journalists and community engagement teams to rural areas of the state as well as to those regions that are underserved with access to local news. Through a series of listening sessions, student workshops and community forums, “Your Stories, Your SCETV” will help inform SCETV’s local news coverage, encourage civic dialogue and allow participants to share what issues matter most to them leading up to the 2026 election and beyond.

The first in-person stop on the outreach tour will take place in Nov. 2025 in the Allendale, Barnwell and Bamberg area. Over the next year, SCETV will host six additional stops in regions across the state, with engagement that includes student journalism workshops, voting process demonstrations and town-hall-style discussions on local issues.

In 2024, SCETV strengthened its news operations, reflecting the network’s dedication to providing timely, accurate and impactful local coverage across its television, radio and digital platforms. By emphasizing a collaborative, multi-platform approach to storytelling, audiences can engage with SCETV’s news content seamlessly. With this unified approach, SCETV aims to be a leader in public service journalism, spotlighting the voices and stories that make South Carolina unique. “Your Stories, Your SCETV” reflects SCETV’s continued commitment to engaging communities in transparent and comprehensive news coverage.
