South Carolina ETV (SCETV) is proud to announce the 2nd annual NextLens Online Film Festival, an exciting opportunity for emerging student filmmakers aged 16 and older to showcase their talent, creativity and vision. NextLens is a powerful platform that gives aspiring filmmakers from across South Carolina a chance to be seen, celebrated and recognized in the ever-evolving world of media.
To support and empower these storytellers, SCETV will also launch a video series this fall designed to introduce aspiring filmmakers to essential filmmaking principles. The series will premiere Oct. 16, and be available on the SCETV website, PBS.org and KnowItAll.org. Each week will feature film industry professionals who are from South Carolina, sharing foundational techniques in storytelling, camera operation, lighting, production design, sound and editing.
Submissions for the Spring 2026 festival are currently open and will close on Jan. 23. The festival is open to student filmmakers aged 16 and older who are currently enrolled in a South Carolina high school, college or university, and aims to celebrate innovative storytelling and original short films.

Selected films will be featured across SCETV's digital platforms, including SCETV.org, YouTube, Facebook, the PBS app and the SCETV app, giving honorees significant exposure. In addition, honorees will receive certificates recognizing their achievements and be given the opportunity to showcase their film at local in-person screenings as well as a celebratory in-person festival event. Details on the festival event will be announced along with this year’s honorees in February 2026.
