In close coordination with emergency officials, South Carolina ETV and Public Radio plays a vital role in keeping citizens informed and safe during emergency weather events. Our team provides timely, accurate and accessible information across television, radio and digital platforms—ensuring critical updates reach communities in real time.

During Hurricane Helene in September of last year, the agency mobilized quickly to provide continuous storm coverage and safety guidance. SCETV’s statewide television and radio infrastructure, as well as our online platforms, support efforts to distribute trusted and reliable information for all, including those in rural and underserved areas— a response that earned the network a 2025 South Carolina Broadcasters Association STAR Award for Convergence Coverage.

As hurricane season peaks this year, SCETV continues to provide reliable emergency coverage through the South Carolina Emergency Information Network, keeping you informed. Listen for weather updates from Chief Meteorologist Tim Miller weekdays on SC Public Radio during Morning Edition and All Things Considered and visit SCETV.org/weather for the latest updates and resources.

This Labor Day, SCETV highlights the spirit of American workers through American Graduate: Jobs Explained and SC Skillionaires, which introduce young people to high-demand fields through videos and mobile games. Explore a pivotal moment in the history of American labor on Sept. 30 at 9 p.m. with American Experience: Hard Hat Riot, which examines the 1970 clash between construction workers and anti-war protestors.

In partnership with the South Carolina Telehealth Alliance, SCETV is observing Telehealth Awareness Week Sept. 14–20. This initiative reveals how telehealth saves lives, improves outcomes and expands access to healthcare— especially in rural and underserved communities.

SCETV also celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month beginning Sept. 15. You can watch the 38th Hispanic Heritage Awards on Sept. 26 on ETV and Sept. 28 on the South Carolina Channel.

Finally, join us Sept. 13 in Charleston for a live taping of SC Public Radio’s upcoming new show, Shortwave Kitsch Radio, at The Citadel’s Capers Hall.

We remain committed to serving South Carolinians with programming that informs, prepares and connects communities across the state. Thank you for your continued support!
