In this episode of Sandlapper's Corner, we visit some of the many special events held around South Carolina!
First we travel to the Governor's Annual Jumping Frog Contest in Springfield, and then we are off to Beaufort for the Water Festival where one of the highlights of the event is the blessing of the fleet of shrimp boats that gather in the harbor.
The Peach Festival in Gilbert, in Lexington County is fun for the whole family. For those of Scottish ancestry, the Scottish Games and Highland Gathering, held at Middleton Place, near Charleston is a must. Thrill to the sounds of bagpipes as the pipe and drum bands go on parade and watch the feats of strength that also are typical of highland games. Dancers compete in highland dance contests, as well.
In October, the age of chivalry returns to the Lowcountry with the Lancing Tournament. In the summer, you can go to the Sun Fun Festival in Myrtle Beach! In the fall, come to Columbia for the State Fair. There are so many things to see and do, watch this video to learn more!
