Pass It Along was an eight-episode children's educational program produced in 1985 in cooperation with the Center for Environmental Education, the SC Department of Education Office of Instructional Technology and South Carolina ETV.

Pass It Along: Introduction (1985)

The episode focuses on Major Lee Holton, an astronaut who has just returned home. Back home, he is confronted by his best friend, Charlie, who wants to know why Lee wants to quit. Lee is also accompanied by an imaginary little girl named Crescent. After seeing the Earth from space, he had an epiphany and is upset at how people are mistreating it and believes that we should be protecting it.

 

Friedensreich Hundertwasser - Painting (1985)

The episode focuses on Friedensreich Hundertwasser, his work, and his use of spirals. Hundertwasser was an Austrian painter born in 1928, whose use of spirals is seen constantly throughout his work, as he believed spirals represent life. He also visited the John Eaton School in Washington D.C. to teach kids how to paint, specifically in his own way. Together, they painted one of the school’s walls.

 

Peter Bohlin - Architecture (1985)

This episode explores the architecture of Camp Shelly Ridge near Philadelphia. The center was designed and created by Peter Bohlin; an architect born in 1937. He wanted to create buildings that would reflect the nature around the area. Throughout the episode, he takes a group of children on a scavenger hunt around the area and uses it as an opportunity to describe the architecture.

 

Ozzie Tollefson - Performance (1985)

This episode focuses on Ozzie Tollefson, a teacher and actor who teaches kids about the ocean. Tollefson uses drama as a tool to educate children on the ocean and the various types of life it has. In one of his shows, he teaches children about a few ocean-related topics, such as seals, sea turtles, and whales. He emphasizes the importance of protecting the oceans and its animals, and teaching kids the same thing early on.
