Guess What I'm Going To Do This Summer | Sandlapper's Corner

Kaltura

In this episode of Sandlapper's Corner, students discuss where they will spend the summer. There are so many things to do in South Carolina!

A boy plans a visit to his grandparents' dairy farm, which he does every summer. He describes the things he does at the farm, including fishing, feeding the baby calves, and helping with the afternoon milking.

One of the girls was excited about an upcoming visit to Beaufort, South Carolina, where she was going to be on a guided nature walk where she would learn about plants, seashells, and animals.

Another girl is planning a return visit to camp at Riverbanks Zoo where campers learn about a red-tailed hawk, Siberian tigers, and lions, see a polar bear up close, and learn about the commissary and the feeding of the birds and animals. They visit the animal hospital and learn how the zoo's vets take care of sick animals, large and small. The group learns about corn snakes from a herpetologist. After seeing the highlights, the campers enjoy a tour of the zoo.

Another child in the group describes baseball camp where he hopes to learn a lot to help him to become a better baseball player.

Sandlapper’s Corner was a children's educational program that began airing on SCETV in the 1970s. Produced by Dr. Sandra G. Thomas, the show was about South Carolina—its people and places, its present and past.
