Heads up, ballet afficionados! What a treasure of romance to find in the ETV Tape Vault! This exquisite production of Giselle was produced and directed by Sidney Palmer. Anne Burton was the principal dancer and Andrew Kuharsky and Edward Avery performed the roles of Albrecht and Hilarion, respectively. The Greenville Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Peter Rickett and the ensemble of the Carolina Ballet Theatre rounded out the performance.
In this two-act ballet, we meet Giselle, a lovely maiden with a weak heart, who is courted by Count Albrecht, who has disguised himself as a peasant youth. Alone with Giselle, he swears his eternal love for her. But wait! There is betrayal! Watch here to learn the timeless tale of Giselle, Albrecht, and the dangers of unfulfilled love.

- Sidney Palmer 1928 - 2016 Obituary. In 1979, Mr. Palmer moved to the South Carolina ETV Network to accept the position of Executive Director for National Programming. It was there that he produced operas, such as The Consul, Vanessa, and Willie Stark for the Great Performances series, and Pilobolus and The Paul Taylor Dance Company for the Dance in America series.
