What a treat to be able to share this gorgeous gift from the ETV Tape Vault! For over twenty years, the ETV Endowment offered posters, and limited edition prints of artists from the South as gifts to support fundraisers for South Carolina Educational Television. In this ETV Classics, Beryl Dakers introduces us to nine artists who were representatives of the artists who contributed to the Endowment over those many years.
The featured nine artists whose names appear in the Side Notes below provide glimpses into their artistic lives including their work environment, inspirations, and preferred paint media. We learn how Jim Harrison got his start as a school boy at Mr. J. J. Cornforth’s sign shop; about Guy Lipscomb's fascination with those who seek; Genie Marshal Wilder finding the personalities in still life; Steven Jordan's delight in the Southern Coastal Region, and so much more. The world has lost Guy Lipscomb, Genie Marshall Wilder and Anne Worsham Richardson, but the other artists are still active. All artists are represented in museums and we hope you will take time to learn more about them and their art.
