The 13th Annual Telehealth Summit of South Carolina brought healthcare leaders, policy makers, educators and innovators to Charleston last month to collaborate and explore the future of health care delivery.
Held October 28-30 at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston, the annual event showcased 60 speakers and 30 sponsors as well as exhibitors. South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster and several state legislators were in attendance as well as leaders in healthcare and technology. Attendees explored the latest changes to virtual healthcare including new standards and strategies for school-based telehealth, the evolution of virtual providers in emergency departments, disrupting provider burnout, the transformative role of AI in healthcare, and more.
The annual Summit is hosted by Palmetto Care Connections, a telehealth network that assists health care providers in connecting rural and underserved South Carolinians to quality services through broadband, technology and telehealth programs. Telehealth refers to a broad scope of remote health care services, including clinical care (called telemedicine) and non-clinical services such as provider training, consultations between providers and continuing medical education.
