2025 Rick Foster Primary Care Telehealth Champion award Dr. Timothy Hensley, Dr. Stuart Simko

The Rick Foster Primary Care Telehealth Champion Award was presented to Dr. Timothy Hensley and Dr. Stuart Simko during the 13th Annual Telehealth Summit of South Carolina held last month in Charleston.

The Rick Foster Primary Care Telehealth Champion Award recognizes an individual champion in the area of primary care. The purpose of this award is to recognize individuals who have overcome significant barriers or developed revolutionary processes that benefit the communities they serve in South Carolina.

Dr. Simko and Dr. Hensley are both pediatricians at Prisma Health in Greenville and are known as pioneers and trailblazers for the children’s hospital telehealth work. Beginning before the Covid-19 pandemic, they were engaged in creating workflows and abilities to expand pediatric services into communities that didn’t have ready access. They showed dedication to improving telehealth services and improving outcomes for their patients.

“During Covid they were indispensable in helping us fine tune and develop tools that allowed physicians to reach the children and the families that we needed to in times where the families didn’t feel comfortable coming into a medical environment,” said Dr. Robin LaCroix, medical director of Prisma Health’s Children’s Hospital.

Palmetto Care Connections is the host of the Annual Telehealth Summit of South Carolina. The Telehealth Summit brings together leaders and professionals interested in utilizing telehealth to increase access to health care.
