Black College Football Hall of Fame: Journey to Canton
“Headed to Canton” is often used synonymously when referring to an NFL player who will one day be enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, located in Canton, Ohio. Now, more than 50 year later, heading to Canton has expanded to include collegiate football. In 2019, the Black College Football Hall of Fame was officially welcomed to the campus of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Just A Mortal Man - The Jerry Lawson Story
Jerry Lawson was the original lead singer of the legendary a cappella group The Persuasions, first discovered by Frank Zappa in the early '70s. During his 40-year tenure with the group, Jerry recorded 24 albums, toured internationally and sang alongside Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon and Joni Mitchell, among others.

Independent Lens: Outta the Muck

Carolina Stories: Charlie’s Place
"Charlie’s Place," tells the story of an African American nightclub in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina that was a significant stop on the Chitlin’ Circuit in the segregated South. The owner, Charlie Fitzgerald, welcomed blacks and whites to his club. From the 1930s to the 1960s, many of the greatest black musicians played there, including Billie Holiday, Ray Charles, Ruth Brown and Little Richard.

Carolina Stories: Jail No Bail
Narrated by award-winning actor Keith David, this 30-minute-long documentary is a poignant examination of the personal trials and adversities that tested the character and resolve of the Friendship Nine who, through non-violent protest, helped compel a nation to abandon segregationist practices between the races.

Alpha Kappa Alpha: A Legacy of Service
In 1908, on the fifteenth of January at historically-black Howard University in Washington, D.C., nine coeds, led by Ethel Hedgeman, courageously broke with tradition and founded the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, or "A-K-A", the first college sorority started and incorporated by African American women.
