Tropical Storm Danny Strengthens on Approach to South Carolina Lowcountry

Heavy rain and gusty winds moving ashore near Beaufort and Hilton Head Island as the center of the storm moves quickly inland.

Tropical Storm Danny has intensified slightly as it approaches the Lowcountry this evening, now with maximum winds now at 45 mph and a motion to the west-northwest at 16 mph. Tropical Storm Warnings continue for Charleston and Berkeley counties, where Meteorologist Jeff Huffman says the greatest impacts will occur in the next few hours.

Tropical Storm Danny Impacts

Jeff says some pockets of heavy rain and gusty winds may also occur farther inland tonight through the Midlands and Upstate region, especially closer to the Georgia border, but that the storm should weaken rapidly as it moves inland and near normal weather conditions will return tomorrow.
