What is STEAM Camp All About?

What if students could take an idea from their imagination… and actually bring it to life?

At SCETV’s STEAM Camp, that’s exactly what happens.

Over four exciting days, middle school students work in teams to tackle real-world challenges from research-based and standard-aligned prompts. They’ll brainstorm bold ideas, build creative solutions, test what works (and what doesn’t), and improve along the way.

But they won’t just build—they’ll tell the story of their work, capturing their process on video and sharing their journey from first idea to final solution.

With guidance from educators and real engineers, students will discover that they’re capable of more than they think—and that their ideas matter.

From Idea to Impact

💡 Dream
Start with curiosity. Ask questions. Imagine solutions to real problems that matter.

🛠️ Design
Work as a team to brainstorm, sketch, and build your first prototype.

🚀 Develop
Test your ideas, learn from mistakes, and improve your design until it works.

By the end of camp, you won’t just have a project—you’ll have a story to share.

More Than Just a Camp

This isn’t about sitting and listening, it’s about doing, trying, and discovering.

Students will:

  • Build real engineering projects.
  • Learn how to think through challenges and solve problems.
  • Work as a team and share ideas.
  • Create their own video documenting their work.
  • Meet engineers and explore future careers!

Most importantly, they’ll leave with confidence—knowing they can take on challenges and figure things out.

A Day at Camp

What Does a Day Look Like?

Every day is active, creative, and a little different—but here’s the rhythm:

  • Start with a quick challenge to get your brain moving.
  • Dive into building and design with your team.
  • Test your ideas and make them better.
  • Capture your progress on video
  • Wrap up by reflecting on what worked—and what you’ll try next!

It’s fast-paced, hands-on, and never boring.

What You’ll Do Each Day

Day 1: Get Started
Meet your team, jump into your first challenge, and learn the basics of building and filming.

Day 2: Try, Test, Improve
Take your ideas further by testing what works and making your design stronger.

Day 3: Build & Tell Your Story
Refine your project and start shaping the story of your work through video.

Day 4: Finish & Showcase
Put the final touches on your design and video—and share it with others.

Showcase Day

On the final day, students step into the spotlight.

Teams will present their projects and share the videos they created—showing not just what they built, but how they got there.

Families, educators, and community partners are invited to celebrate their work and creativity.

It’s more than a presentation—it’s a moment to be proud.
