In the summer of 2023, the Columbia Museum of Art hosts the exhibit “Resurgence and Renaissance: Art of the Catawba Nation Since 1973.” Building on the 1973 exhibit “Catawba Indian Trade Pottery of the Historic Period,” this exhibit revisits the original show and sale and highlights Catawba artists of the past 50 years. This talk will highlight artists and artwork featured in the new exhibit, discuss the original 1973 exhibit and its impact, and explore the diversity of Catawba Nation artwork.
