Program on archaeology of Revolutionary War Hanging Rock Battlefield Tuesday June 17, the program “The Hanging Rock Battlefield - Locating and Defining the Battle Through Archaeology” will be presented at the Lancaster County Historical Courthouse, 104 North Main Street, Lancaster, Tuesday, June 17 at 7 pm. Sponsored by the Lancaster 250th American Revolution Anniversary Committee, speaker John E. Allison will discuss the use of metal detecting in discovering the location of Patriot and Loyalist units, and how the battle progressed.
The program is a part of the Lancaster 250th American Revolution Anniversary Committee’s “Engagement Series” a sequence of talks and presentations over the next year, paid for by a grant from the South Carolina 250 Commission, dedicated to commemorating the 250th anniversaries of Revolutionary War events in South Carolina The Lancaster 250 Committee is devoted to the same goal, highlighting people, places and events in Lancaster County.
