"Lancaster Rocks! The Contributions of Lancaster, SC to American Popular Music”

Native American Studies Center
119 S. Main St.
Lancaster 29720

For such a small town, Lancaster, SC has produced a surprising number of musicians and producers, not only artists who have gained fame, but ones who shaped and continue to shape American popular culture. From the earliest days of recorded music, through the R & B and Soul music eras, into the Alternative music of the 80s, and to the contemporary era, Lancaster County has produced rock and pop stars of regional, national, and international acclaim. This lecture by Dr. Stephen Criswell, USC Lancaster Folklorist, celebrates Lancaster’s contribution to American popular music. To attend the lecture in person, please call (803) 313-7172 or email usclnasp@mailbox.sc.edu to reserve your spot.
