World of Opera Ends Production

With regret, we announce that World of Opera, produced and distributed by WDAV Classical Public Radio and South Carolina Public Radio, has ended production; the final episode of the series was broadcast on December 10. The provider of the recorded live operatic performances that are the mainstay of the series, the European Broadcasting Union, was no longer able to continue to deliver these performances. SC Public Radio was proud to be a part of this tradition begun by NPR decades ago.

SCETV President Linda O’Bryon to Step Down in Fall of 2017

Linda O’Bryon, the president and CEO of South Carolina ETV and SC Public Radio, announced plans to step down next fall.  She advised the ETV Commission meeting Friday, Nov. 18 during its regular meeting. When O’Bryon steps down, she will have served as ETV CEO for seven years.

StoryCorps to Visit SC State Museum, EdVenture

StoryCorps, a renowned nonprofit organization that records and celebrates the stories of everyday Americans, is coming to Columbia to collect interviews with residents.

Heard and seen weekly on SC Public Radio and SCETV, StoryCorps is bringing its MobileBooth—an Airstream trailer outfitted with a recording studio—to the parking lot between the S.C. State Museum and EdVenture for four weeks, beginning Nov. 18.

Our new 3000 pound antenna has been installed in Charleston.

We are broadcasting now.  As with any new installation, there may be adjustments, including down time.

Our Charleston Stations Will Be Off Air Temporarily

We're replacing our TV and radio antennas in Charleston, a process that was interrupted by Hurricane Matthew. We hope to have crews back in Charleston Tuesday to finish the work, which should take several days.  Thank you for your patience.

Palmetto Scene to Offer Interviews to SC Federal Candidates

SCETV’s weekly public affairs program, Palmetto Scene, is reaching out to qualified candidates for US Congressional Districts 1-7 and the US Senate seat to participate in a joint interview.  The interviews will be scheduled in the weeks prior to the general election and will air Thursday nights on Palmetto Scene
