SC Stays Strong: Photos in the Aftermath of Disaster

Early Friday, Oct. 2, the State of South Carolina braced itself for a historic rainfall event caused by the looming Hurricane Joaquin predicted by meteorologists and the National Weather Service.

But while Joaquin failed to hit the South Carolina coast, and as rain began on Saturday and Sunday, the southeast experienced what experts have described as a “fire hose” of tropical moisture that directly hit South Carolina. No one could have anticipated the catastrophic damage of this “1,000 year storm”
