If you asked Sallie Ann Robinson her purpose in life, she would answer, "To make everyone happy through food." Robinson, a sixth-generation native of Daufuskie Island, is a celebrity chef, television personality, and authority on Gullah tradition.

As the author of two cookbooks, she is renowned for her culinary expertise and knowledge of the Southeastern United States Gullah culture.

Ernest Middleton loves electricity. At 14, Middleton says his life was not going in the right direction and his mother decided to send him to his uncle, an electrician. Together, the pair did wiring work and his uncle encouraged Middleton to pursue the trade further. Once in trade school in Charleston, Middleton found his passion and decided to pursue an engineering degree at the University of South Carolina. But a difficult course nearly ended his goal to become an engineer.

South Carolina's 187 miles of coast is enjoyed by millions year round and Kelly Thorvalson of the South Carolina Aquarium is here to protect it. Thorvalson has one of the most unique jobs in the world...to nurse sick and injured sea turtles back to health. The Sea Turtle Hospital at the South Carolina Aquarium is a Southeast one-of-a-kind operation. The staff often works nights, weekends, holidays and they are always on-call in case of a turtle stranding.
