Lamikka Purvis Samuel, LMSW
Lamikka Samuel served as a panelist on Palmetto Perspectives: Saving Moms Part 2.
Lamikka Samuel is the Director of Family Solutions a program of the SC Office of Rural Health responsible for implementation of a Healthy Start initiative, Nurse Family Partnership a Healthy Steps program and a Family Resource Center. Lamikka has been a social worker for 23 years and is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a master’s degree in social work.
She is also a Certified Community Health Worker and certified as an ACE Master Trainer by The Children’s Trust of SC.
Lamikka is a past president of the SC Perinatal Association Board and a member of the SC Birth Outcomes Advisory.
Lamikka represents the field of social work on the states Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Committee and is currently completing certification in perinatal mental health. She is a member of a number of steering committees focused on maternal infant outcomes, behavioral health, and/or substance use.
Lamikka has been and continues to be invested in supporting and promoting initiatives to address disparities in perinatal health and birth outcomes. This is evidenced by her involvement in several local, state, and national committees.
