Look for a segment we'll be doing on :
Educating Outdoors... The idea is to offer teachers resources, through materials and guest speakers to broaden their lesson plans, and then give children choices in activities outside the classroom, officials said.

Ed Falco, an education associate with the state education department, said the program is the result of a brainstorming session between South Carolina Superintendent of Education Jim Rex and John Frampton, the head of the natural resources department

We'll have a segment on what this means for some of our SC students on Thursday night's BP at 7:30... for some of our at-risk students, the program has literally been a life saver.

In the world of TV, they are called satellite talk-backs. We had one Monday morning with Boyd Matson of National Geographic who was in Los Angeles while we were in our Columbia studios.
Nat Geo is making a big Earth Day push, called "Green Effect". Can you take small steps to make your neighborhood greener? If you have the right idea, the folks at www.greeneffect.com might give you $20,000 to make that idea happen in your own community.
See our full conversation with Boyd Thursday night at 7:30pm on ETV when we talk with him about climate change. We'll also take you to Spartanburg to look at one of the world's largest plastic recycling plants. Read more about that here: http://www.urrc.net/new/pdf/PlasticsNews-webpage.pdf
