The Big Picture

Childhood Obesity

Twenty five percent of South Carolina children are considered obese, and that number continues to rise. This alarming trend is also showing an increase in obesity related diseases, such as diabetes. Many organizations throughout the state are stepping up and implementing programs throughout the schools and communities to make students more aware of this ongoing problem. The Big Picture takes an in-depth look at some of these programs and the effect they are having on the children of South Carolina.
