Virginia Harley is my aunt. She was also my first art teacher. I spent many summers painting with her while growing up. I loved and still do going to visit her and my uncle Joe.
She inspired me to major in Art at Limestone College. I now teach Art at Orangeburg Preparatory Schools.

Thank you for this program grin

My grandmother, Virginia Harley, is an amazing artist - she is the reason I am studying art today, and she has always been an inspiration to me. In every work that I do now, I can trace the roots of idea, technique, material, and inspiration back to her.

Every summer when I was little, I would spend a month at "Grandma's art camp" - where we would have a blast experimenting with new kinds of materials and techniques.

She was the first art teacher I had, and she taught me to live my art - to make it not just what I do, but who I am.

I only hope I can be as true to myself and my art as she has.

I love you Grandma!!!! grin
