Conductor Joseph Young: Concerto for Orchestra
Wednesday - May 28, 2014
Tonight at 8:00 at the College of Charleston's Sottile Theatre, Charleston-raised conductor Joseph Young makes his Spoleto Festival USA debut leading the Festival Orchestra in a showcase of musical splendor. The program features Samuel Barber’s radiant Adagio for Strings and John Adams’s Doctor Atomic Symphony, a stirring symphonic adaptation of his 21st-century opera. Bela Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra is by turns playful, soulful, and exhilarating in its showcase of orchestral virtuosity.
