Speaking of Schools

Youth Risk Behavior Survey: The Obesity Epidemic

Monday - June 10, 2013

You don't need a lot of fancy research to know we've got a lot of overweight children (and adults) in our nation and state. This week's podcast alerts us as to how profound this problem is, as it relates to public school students in South Carolina. Moreover, it provides information as to what's happening in our schools to promote and encourage physical activity, as well as healthy eating habits through health education programs. Our guest, Dr. Delores Pluto from the State Department of Education, also touches on the move toward healthy foods being served as snacks and meals in breakfast and lunch programs. Another informative Speaking of Schools podcast coming your way this week!
