YES Carolina - Teaching Young Entrepreneurs in South Carolina Schools
Monday - January 18, 2010
Youth Entrepreneurship South Carolina is an organization created to offer South Carolina educators the opportunity to utilize curriculum designed to help young people from communities statewide build skills and unlock their entrepreneurial creativity. From 2003 to 2009, YESCarolina has trained over 500 NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship) Certified Entrepreneurship Teachers that have in turn touched thousands of young South Carolinians with this wonderful and innovative entrepreneurship curriculum. This year, YEScarolina is offering this excellent training opportunity without charge to public school teachers statewide. Public school teachers, guidance counselors, and principals should be particularly interested in this opportunity, especially those with responsibilities in grades 6 - 12. While the NFTE Curriculum has often been utilized in entrepreneurship and other business classes, any teacher interested in addressing standards in English, Math, Technology, Social Studies, Science, Leadership, and Entrepreneurship through innovative and interactive 'real world' lessons should be encouraged to find out more about YEScarolina. Jimmy Bailey the founder of YESCarolina joins us and a conversation with a YES Carolina student who has won a national award for his entrepreneurial efforts and his teacher are also featured on the podcast.
