Writing Project Experiences for Middle Schoolers, Teaching Diversity in the Classroom and more
Monday - April 11, 2011
The Upstate Writing Project will be hosting three summer camps, two in June and one in July, offering stimulating experiences to students in grades 4 - 8, and in the case of the third, 4 - 9. The camps will be held at the University Center in Greenville and you'll learn about them on this week's podcast. In addition, the South Carolina Geographic Alliance and the Humanities Council will be sponsoring a one-day workshop on April 30 focusing on the ethnic and religious diversification taking place in the state's classrooms, and the workshop will be offering insights for teachers at all grade levels into the social transformations being experienced in America’s new immigrant gateways. Another podcast conversation will detail the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society's call for nominations for the SC Spanish Teacher of the Year for 2011. Listeners will also learn about the fourth of the Five Basics from Communities In Schools. It's another information-filled Speaking of Schools podcast!
