Teens becoming Street Smart, the Spanish Teacher of the Year program and Blazin’ The Way
Monday - November 02, 2009
South Carolina School Districts are "Blazin the Way" as School Boards enact the tobacco-free policy recommended by the South Carolina School Boards Association. On this week's podcast, the Director of Policy Services with the Association updates us on the program's progress since its implementation several years ago , discusses the Association's collaboration with DHEC's Division of Tobacco Control and briefly describes the five recipient districts of $1500 awards for efforts in curtailing tobacco use. We'll also be joined by Dr. Mark Del Mastro of the Citadel and hear about how the Spanish Teacher of the Year Program has grown and flourished in the Palmetto State. He'll also be announcing the three finalists in this year's program; the winner to be announced later this month. Listeners will also learn about Street Smart, a program for teens aimed at helping them make responsible decisions when they get behind the wheel. It's another informative podcast available to listeners of Speaking of Schools!
