South Carolina’s Growing Public Charter School District
Monday - December 10, 2012
Superintendent Dr. Wayne Brazell is our guest this week and updates us on the present status and immediate future of the South Carolina Public Charter School District. The South Carolina Charter Schools Act defines a charter school as a public, nonreligious, non-home-base, nonprofit corporation that forms a school. A charter school is open to all children eligible to attend public school, and this year, over 11,000 students have chosen a school in the district which currently consists of 18 schools. Growth in the School District has caused it to become one of the fastest growing districts in the State. Learn more about charter schools on this week's Speaking of Schools.
