SCTRAC (SC Transfer and Articulation Center) and the Science PLUS Institute
Monday - April 05, 2010
SCTRAC, a web portal designed to improve college course transfer and articulation in the state will assist students and support college and university staff members by providing online tools that make it easier to transfer academic credit and evaluate how higher education coursework will transfer among South Carolina’s public colleges and universities. SCTRAC (the South Carolina Transfer and Articulation Center) can be accessed online at www.sctrac.org and is made available by the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education. Also, the Science PLUS (Participatory Learning, Understanding, Sharing) Institute at the Roper Mountain Science Center is scheduled to be held this summer for the 18th time. Of the 111 teachers who have been selected for 2010’s Institute, probably 37 will be replaced with alternates. Each year about one-third of those selected will not be able to attend because of various reasons or schedule conflicts. The institute will try to fill each available spot. Information for science teachers in grades 3 - 8 who might be interested in obtaining a spot as an alternate can learn more about the seven different one-week classes in life, earth and physical science. Classes are built around specific grade levels corresponding to the state’s science academic standards. Conversations with the Science PLUS Coordinator and a representative from the SC Commission on Higher Education are highlights of this week's podcast.
