Speaking of Schools

Preventing prom & graduation season tragedies

Monday - March 30, 2009

On this week’s program we explore what can be done to possibly prevent the type of tragedy that seemingly occurs every prom and graduation season – a senseless loss of life due to alcohol and other drug use by teens attending these functions. Kim Smith of the State Department of Education offers tips for parents and schools that might help prevent these senseless accidents.

Also on this week’s program, we are told of an outstanding exhibit portraying a “slave street” and the life of slaves in South Carolina. This permanent Black History exhibit is at Boone Hall Plantation and is an excellent teaching tool as well a revealing insight into our state’s history.
