Poetry Out Loud, Special Spanish Teachers and News From Wofford
Monday - September 27, 2010
The Poetry Out Loud folks are gearing up for another year of local-into state-into national competition and you can learn more about Poetry Out Loud on this week's podcast. The deadline for entry into this year's state contest is October 1st, and the S.C. Arts Commission has partnered with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation to make this competition possible in our state. Last year, more than 5,000 students from 41 schools took part in the program that helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence and learn about their literary heritage. Also this week we'll learn who the three finalists are for the 2010 Spanish Teacher of the Year award and hear about a few of the numerous nation accolades recently heaped upon the folks and programs at Wofford College in Spartanburg.
