Poetry Out Loud: South Carolina’s Winners
Monday - April 18, 2011
During the fall and winter on the podcast we frequently make listeners aware of the Poetry Out Loud competition, a national oratorical program sponsored in the state by the Literary Arts Partnership, a joint effort of the Humanities Council SC, the SC Arts Commission, and the SC State Library. School champions are chosen who advance to regional competitions across the state in the winter and a contest in early spring selects a winner and runner up, the former moving on to the national competition in late April. This week's podcast features the winner and runner up, each delivering a recitation, along with conversations with their teachers who use the Poetry Out Loud material in their classrooms.
