The well-being of all South Carolinians is one of the main focal points of the Speaking of Schools program as rarely does a week go by that a conversation or conversations about education and the various opportunities afforded our citizenry through public and private education programs isn't offered. This week's podcast is no exception as we'll learn about the services of the Palmetto Poison Center at the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy. The Center also has a strong Education Outreach program, a description of which is included in our conversation with the Director and Education Coordinator. And you'll learn about the Zest Quest program which began as a part of the Cliffs Communities in Upstate SC and in North Carolina.The program has recently moved from the Cliffs Communities to Clemson's Youth Learning Institute through the transfer of all rights and a $3 million pledge from Cliff's founder Jim Anthony to Clemson University; Zest Quest is designed to improve the health and wellness of children across the Carolinas. How is this being done? Join us for this week's podcast and find out! Too, we'll be learning about how 79 South Carolina high schools improved their ACT and SAT college entrance exams as we visit with the coordinator of the ACT and SAT Performance Award program at the South Carolina Department of Education.
