Honoring Our Teachers

Monday - May 17, 2010

The spotlight is on teachers this week! Recently at a banquet in Columbia, State Superintendent of Education Jim Rex announced the 2011 State Teacher of the Year, an occasion that has grown in its interest to citizens of the state and to school districts, as 83 of the 85 districts had nominees for this coveted award. We'll revisit that special evening and further salute teachers by hearing from the Vice President of the National Education Association who will address the significance of National Teacher Day which was held on on May 4th. The podcast will also feature another learning and growth opportunity available this summer for teachers from the South Carolina Geographic Alliance. Teachers also play an important role in South Carolina Association of School Librarians summer reading program, No Book Left Unread. Hear all about this popular effort designed to keep minds sharp and further develop reading skills. This week's podcast is full of great information!
