Guardian ad Litem - A Program Advocating for Children
Monday - January 07, 2013
The South Carolina Guardian ad Litem program is state-funded and is part of the Governor's Office. Operating in 45 counties within the state’s 16 judicial circuits. A volunteer finds out what the children need. They learn about their families, their school progress, and other special needs. The volunteer works with all agencies involved with the child, including the Department of Social Services, the Family Court, school personnel and counselors to help the child through this process. On this week's podcast, Guardian ad Litem officials and a volunteer discuss their roles with the program and encourage those people who have potential to change a child's life to consider volunteering or becoming otherwise involved.
