Monday - May 03, 2010
The news release from the South Carolina Department of Education dated May 14, 2008 announced the Department's joining of forces with a national nonprofit group to provide training for South Carolina educators on how to prevent improper relationships with students. Darkness to Light, is a national nonprofit headquartered in Charleston. The announcement declared that thousands of South Carolina teachers, administrators, guidance counselors and school nurses would initially participate in the award-winning “Stewards of Children” program which arms educators with the skills they need to recognize and address potential problems before children are hurt. This week on the podcast we'll take another look at the Darkness to Light program, get an update on the numbers of people that have been trained and learn more about why groups like the South Carolina PTA have endorsed and given financial support to the training.
