Communities In Schools, The Cooper School and the Single Gender Conference
Monday - February 14, 2011
Last month, we learned about Communities In Schools (CIS) from three of the state's chapters; Midlands, Charleston and Greenville. The first of the Five Basics that CIS feels are part of what every child needs to be successful was discussed and this podcast features the second, A Safe Place to Learn and Grow. We'll also visit the Cooper School in Charleston and hear a few poems that students there wrote as part of two volumes of children's poetry entitled PASS IT ON, written to benefit the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development efforts. Also this week, we'll learn about the March Teacher-To-Teacher Conference to be held in Columbia where about 400 folks will assemble to share and learn about what's working in single gender classrooms in South Carolina.
