Charter Schools: A Growing School Choice Oprtion
Monday - February 21, 2011
The S.C. Public Charter School District (SCPCSD) was created through the South Carolina Charter School Act, passed by the S.C. General Assembly in 2005. On this week's podcast we'll be talking with the Superintendent of the S.C. Charter School District and two Principals; one from a highly successful charter school and another from a virtual charter school, a type of school which is growing in number and popularity. Part of the discussion this week centers around House Bill 3241, often referred to as "the charter school bill." The bill, if passed would support the students of public charter schools in several ways, most importantly by allowing the S.C. Public Charter School District to receive some local school tax money.
