Award Winning Schools and School Improvement Councils, plus Tips from FINRA

This week's podcast will feature news about two coveted awards, the Carolina First Palmetto's Finest naming of two elementary, one middle and one high school from a field of thirty applicants, and The Riley Award, named for former South Carolina Governor and U.S. Secretary of Education Dick Riley and his late wife, Tunky, presented to the outstanding School Improvement Council in the state. Tom Hudson of SC-SIC shares the names of the candidate SIC's and discusses the selection process and much more about the work of SC-SIC. Dr. David Mathis, Superintendent of Schools in Saluda County chairs the selection committee for Carolina First Palmetto's Finest and he relates the criteria used in the selection, discusses the process and names the thirteen finalists for the award. We'll also have a conversation with John Gannon of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), who will offer ten tips for setting financial goals for 2010.
