Alive At 25: Making Good Choices Behind the Wheel
Monday - December 17, 2012
This week on the podcast, the Traffic and Safety Director of South Carolina National Safety Council discusses the Alive At 25 program aimed at encouraging high school students to make life-saving decisions while driving. Alive at 25 is a survival course. It is designed to prevent the #1 killer of teens, automobile crashes. SC Alive at 25 is taught by off-duty Deputy Sheriffs, Municipal Police Officers and SC Highway Patrol Officers. The course is delivered in one 4.5 hour program which focuses on the behaviors, decision-making and risks facing young drivers every time they get behind the wheel. The program is in place in over 100 high schools and has dramatically reduced teen deaths in the state. Many schools require students to take the course before issuing parking permits to them.
