Mackenzie Astin plays William Dane, a hospice worker who becomes suddenly unemployed and is faced with the challenge of providing for his emotionally fragile mother, Susan Metler (Patty Duke). Answering an ambiguous job posting, William finds himself in the curious employ of Tander Welch, a terminally ill writer who has no interest in hospice care but rather reconnecting with his three estranged daughters and ending his own life, quietly.
